Society for Disabled Children needs help at its Pirate Treasure Hunt to be held during the Kern Scottish Games from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23. The Residences of West Columbus is seeking volunteers to join the residence team at the new housing for former foster youth that will be inaugurated in April.
Volunteers can learn about the 20 former foster youth that will be starting a new life in the new homes 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. March 11 at Covenant Community Services, 1700 N. Chester Ave. Volunteers with any type of skills or creative ideas are encouraged to participate.

Mayor's Freeway Cleanup needs volunteers to assist with de-littering the freeway off- and on-ramps. Vests, helmets and trash bags are provided. Volunteers will meet at 8:45 a.m. The next freeway cleanup will take place this Saturday, March 9. Meet at the Park & Ride lot on Stockdale Highway, west of Oak Street. Travel by bus/van to the various cleanup locations and return by 11 a.m. Mark your calendars for March 9 and 23, April 6 and 20, and May 4 and 18. For future cleanups and additional information, call 326-3770. If there's adverse weather (active rain or fog), cleanup will be cancelled.
