The third annual North of the River Chamber of Commerce Economic Outlook Conference is slated for Thursday.
"Every year it gets bigger and better," event chairwoman Vanessa Emo said Monday on "First Look with Scott Cox."
Emo said the conference is a great opportunity for networking and meeting other business owners with similar concerns. She said the local economy is improving every day.
"They are advocating for all of you business owners out there," simulcast Scott Cox said.
Business leaders set to speak at the event include the Moneywise Guys, Richard Chapman from the Kern Economic Development Corp., Gene Bogart on water and Chad Hathaway, co-owner of the Bakersfield Blaze.
Corrine Cowell, vice president of the chamber, said the organization conducts fundraisers in the community and holds an annual golf tournament and many networking events.
Cost for the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. conference is $30 for chamber members and $40 for non-members, and includes lunch. The event will be at Hodel's, 5917 Knudsen Drive.
