A low-cost vaccination event for dogs and cats will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Riverview Park and Community Center in Oildale.

The event is being put on by Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue and The Lucy Pet Foundation.

For county residents, officials will be on hand to license dogs. And Marley's Mutts will provide vouchers to help pay for spay/neuter costs to county residents in the 93308 ZIP code. Those vouchers will be good for use at Critters Without Litters, a local low-cost spay/neuter clinic.

Any resident -- county or city -- can take advantage of the low-cost vaccinations and microchipping Saturday.

The costs are:

Microchipping (including registration) $30;

Rabies shots for dogs $10, distemper/parvo $25, bordetella $20-$25;

Deworming costs vary by size of animal; and

Respiratory infection shots for cats $20, feline leukemia $30.

For more information, call Lucy Pet at 855-499-LUCY.
