Two Delano officials named in search warrant filed in child porn investigation

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

Computers, cellphones and other items were seized from the home of a Delano Joint Union High School District board of trustees member in connection with a child pornography investigation.

The IP address belonging to board member Jean Flores was linked to, as of April 9, a total of 285 files known to be child pornography, according to a search warrant filed in court by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Flores lives in the 1900 block of Albany Street in Delano with Thomas Gilbert Wilson, the search warrant said.

The document also named Delano Mayor Pro Tem Ricardo Chavez because on several occasions his vehicle was parked at the home while agents conducted their investigation. In addition to items taken from the Flores home, agents seized a computer, MP3 player and cellphone belonging to Chavez.

A busy signal was heard upon multiple calls to the home of Flores and Wilson. A message at Chavez's office said his mail box was full and could not accept new messages.

The investigation began Nov. 7 when agents accessed a network to find computers in Kern County that were sharing files containing child porn, the search warrant said. More than 100 such files were found at an IP address that was later found to belong to Flores.

The search warrant was served April 25. As of late Tuesday afternoon, no charges were listed against either Flores, Wilson or Chavez.
