PHOTO GALLERY: Bakersfield Burrito Project finds home in church

By The Bakersfield Californian

The Bakersfield Burrito Project, a group of volunteers who prepare food for the homeless and needy, is up and running in a new home, the kitchen at Wesley United Methodist Church in northeast Bakersfield.

The volunteers cook the food at Wesley United, then deliver to locations throughout town populated by the needy.

On Sunday, the group prepared 84 burritos, and the goal is to work up to about 200, Founder and CEO Belinda Lopez said.

Photographer John Harte captured the group's efforts in photos.
