A bus carrying immigration reform advocates stopped in Bakersfield Wednesday as part of a nati

onal "Fast for Families" tour.

The bus was one of two that left Los Angeles Monday as part of a cross-country trip that will end in Washington, D.C. for an April 9 rally.

After a stop Tuesday in Santa Clarita, the bus went to the Empire Drive office of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield. It was joined there by activists from the United Farm Workers union and other organizations pushing for comprehensive immigration reform.

The bus carries individuals on a fast in support of immigration reform. It was scheduled to arrive in San Francisco Thursday before moving on to other congressional districts.
