Two more flu deaths bring Kern County total to 20

Two more Kern County residents have died from the flu since Feb. 11, according to the Kern County Public Health Services Department.

The total number of fatalities this season is now 20.

The health department said 109 people have been hospitalized with flu-like symptoms. Fifty-six of them were admitted to an intensive care unit during their illness, according to Public Health.

Of the 86 cases of flu confirmed so far, 38 were of the H1N1 or "swine flu" type.
