As Bakersfield Public Works Director Raul Rojas prepares to take the same job with Marin County, Assistant Public Works Director Nick Fidler has been named the department's interim head.
City Manager Alan Tandy made the announcement Friday in his weekly memo to the mayor and Bakersfield City Council.
Rojas' selection, announced earlier this week, awaits an approval vote Tuesday by the Marin County Board of Supervisors.
His last day of work in Bakersfield is March 21. Fidler's first day as interim director is March 24.
Fidler has been a city employee for more than 10 years, and previously served as a civil engineer and a general services superintendent in the Public Works Department.
