Work to resume at Truxtun and Mohawk

Work on the intersection expansion at Truxtun Avenue and Mohawk Street is expected to resume Tuesday after an employment dispute interrupted things beginning in mid-August, city officials said Friday.
Drivers should watch out for changing road conditions including lane closures in the area as a result, they said.
Members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12 walked off the Westside Parkway job site about two weeks ago in a pay disagreement with Security Paving Co. Inc of Sun Valley.
Security Paving told officials with the Thomas Roads Improvement Program, a collaboration of local governments that is managing construction of the east-west freeway, that the dispute is over.
The parkway was most affected by the loss of operating engineers handling large equipment, said Bakersfield Public Works Director Raul Rojas. Some small street paving projects in Bakersfield were also affected.
The stoppage has affected other Southern California projects and involved other contractors, too.
Short-term lane closures at Truxtun and Mohawk are expected to happen on and off for the next two to three months as different crews perform various types of work at the intersection, according to TRIP. The closures will typically occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
