Talented musicians such as Richard Strauss and Witold Lutoslawski created music that inspires the soul.

Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox," Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra conductor John Farrer talked about the Five Masters of Orchestral Brilliance concert that will pay tribute to five legendary composers.

Farrer talked about the "music genius" Strauss was and how his skills helped develop classical music.

"It's kind of scary that by the age of 17, Straus had great talent and was rather extraordinary," Farrer said.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Rabobank Theater. Ticket prices range from $20 to $45. To purchase tickets, visit ticketmaster.com, Rabobank box office or the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra.
