Bakersfield will be featured on C-SPAN's 2013 Cities Tour. Expect everything from the Bakersfield Sound to the Kern County Museum to Col. Thomas Baker to Chief Justic Earl Warren to be included.

Debbie Lamb, a coordinating producer for C-SPAN's 2013 Cities Tour, talked about the segments that will be filmed this week during an appearance Monday on "First Look with Scott Cox."

They are slated to be shown on C-SPAN 2 and 3 next month, July 6 and 7.

The program features the literary life and history of U.S. cities.

"It's a great way for us to feature this unique city," Lamb said.

She described it as a joint effort, as C-SPAN has worked with Bright House Networks and the city of Bakersfield to identify people and places to include in the segments.

"We're the conduit by which the conversation takes place," Lamb said.

The Cities Tour focuses on mid-size cities. Among the cities recently featured: Palm Springs; Mesa, Az.; Santa Fe, N.M.; and Alexandria, Va. C-SPAN will have covered 31 cities by the end of June.

The segments are shown on the first and third weekends of each month. They are also on the C-SPAN website, http://www.c-span.org/LocalContent/
