Francisco Ramirez Jr., a candidate for the 16th Senate District seat, talked about "going for the gold" during an appearance on "First Look with Scott Cox" Thursday.
The candidate said he's doing a grassroots campaign that includes phone banks and the Internet.
Ramirez talked about a debate slated for 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Temple Beth El's social hall, and said he expects to talk about water and health care issues.
The election to fill the seat that's open following the resignation of Michael Rubio is Tuesday.
Ramirez said that if elected, he plans to talk to water coalitions to look at different methods to collect water.
The candidate also took some swipes at some of his competitors.
Each of the five candidates is slated to appear on the simulcast this week. Leticia Perez will be on Monday.
