More good news about local girl battling cancer
By The Bakersfield Californian
The Californian has been following the story of 3-year-old Ylaria Carrasco-Cazares of Bakersfield, who in June 2007 was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer of the central nervous system.
Last week, radiation treatment of a stubborn spot on Ylaria's leg showed some encouraging signs.
This week, the news remains positive. Ylaria gets to come home to Bakersfield from the hospital in New York -- at least for now.
Here's a lightly edited update from Mrs. Carrasco's blog at Caringbridge.org/visit/ylaria:
We are officially done!!!
Ylaria is disconnected from her tubes, her portacath is de-accessed and we are at Ronald's (the Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan), packing and enjoying our freedom.
We leave to the airport tomorrow (Tuesday) at 8:30 a.m., arrive there at 9, board at 11, and depart at 11:30.
Ylaria is so excited. As she walks, she spins.
I ask her, "What makes you so happy, Ylaria?"
She replies, "I love home!"
"I couldn't say it better. See everyone soon! Thank you for checking in on us.
