Dignitaries in attendance will include Congressmen Kevin McCarthy and Jim Costa and State Sens. Jean Fuller and Michael Rubio.

The event is being put on by the Kern County Water Agency in recognition of the Agency's 50th anniversary.

If you're wondering just who and what the Agency is, this conference is a perfect place to learn how important and enmeshed it is in Kern's economic history and its future.

The Agency was formed in 1961 to bring ag and drinking water into Kern County via the State Water Project. In fact, it's one of the state's largest water customers.

As such, the Agency has been an integral part of state water policies.

The conference will feature myriad water experts who will look at where we've been, where we are and where we're likely headed by 2061, hence the conference's name "Vision 2061."

Each panel will begin with introductory remarks followed by a moderated Q&A session.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about our community's life blood, water.

Did I mention it's free? And you get lunch??
