House minority leader to join Bakersfield anti-tax protest
By The Bakersfield Californian
If you hate taxes, you'll have plenty of opportunities to say so Wednesday.
House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, will headline the Bakersfield Tea Party tax protest at the Liberty Bell 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Organizers bill the Bakersfield event, part of a nationwide series of events the day taxes are due, as a peaceful and non-partisan protest of government bailouts, stimulus and increased taxation without representation.
Speakers will include Harold Pease, Jaz McKay, Mon Bertolucci, Leslie Mood, Inga Barks, Ken Mettler and John Lake.
Meanwhile, gay couples and supporters will protest what they consider inequalities they face in federal tax law from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the post office annex on Pegasus Road.
And the American Family Association will protest taxes at noon at City Hall.
