The Great 48 bluegrass weekend starts Thursday and fans from all over the country are expected to attend.
Not only is the weekend filled with great music, but the concert also benefits theTigerfight Foundation, which helps the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox," musicians Craig Wilson and Kelvin Gregory played a couple of bluegrass songs and talked about the genre's popularity in Bakersfield.
"It's hard to find gigs in Bakersfield because it's not as popular as country music," Gregory said.
So what are the main instruments used in bluegrass?
That would be the banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle and an acoustic base, Gregory said.
The Great 48 kicks off at 7 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 3100 Camino Del Rio Court. For tickets, schedules and information visit cbaontheweb.org.
