The holiday season is over -- but don't let that keep you from checking out the First Friday of the year.

Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox," Californian assistant lifestyles editor Stefani Dias talked about the new art shows and entertainment happening downtown.

From a Hawaiian sunset to New Zealand, artist Floyd Dillon's new exhibit, "Remembering Past Journeys," takes viewers across the world with his oil painting scenes.

The show opening will be at the Bakersfield Art Association Art Center from 6 to 8 p.m.

If art shows aren't your thing, check out the Bakersfield Antique Show and Sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kern County Fairgrounds.

Simulcast host Scott Cox said he was a fan of antiquing.

"I get bookcases at these places because things were made properly back then and it will last you forever," Cox said.

Admission is $5; children 12 and under are admitted free. For more information, call 559-638-2639.
