A solemn tradition continued Saturday at the Bakersfield National Cemetery as wreaths were placed at veterans' graves.

The tradition first came to the cemetery in December 2009. This year organizers of the Bakersfield Wreath Project expected more than 2,300 wreaths would be laid.

"We strive to successfully have a wreath at every single grave," Tom Pasek with the Bakersfield Wreath Project said earlier in the week.

The effort is a community service project of Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary along with suport of many businesses, groups and individuals. You can learn more about the effort at bakersfieldwreathproject.org.
