They offer 250 varieties of fruit trees. They purchase products from 100 to 150 vendors in addition to growing their own material. And they want to tell people how to use what they buy.
"The whole thing about the nursery is to make our clients successful," said Jere White of White Forest Nursery, who talked about the business Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox."
White Forest, going on its 49th year in operation, won best nursery in the "Best Of" annual competition put on by Bakersfield Life magazine, Managing Editor Jorge Barrientos announced on the simulcast.
Readers had the opportunity to vote on the "best of" in 108 categories in this 20th anniversary of the competition. In each, there are two "favorites" and one "best" winner. All winners will be revealed in the May issue of the magazine, which comes out Saturday.
White said there are many new products to fix soil, so things that weren't growing will. "This is innovation," he said.
