By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN
This weekend's NASCAR races in Southern California and reaction to the new pope will be among the topics on today's "First Look with Scott Cox."
"First Look" is the new radio-video simulcast that airs on KERN AM 1180 and streams live on bakersfield.com from 7 to 10 a.m. weekdays.
The show is broadcast live from a new studio in The Californian's newsroom.
During the 8 o'clock segment, Cox will talk NASCAR with Gillian Zucker, president of Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, which will host several races this weekend, including the Sprint Cup race Sunday featuring Bakersfield drivers Kevin Harvick and Casey Mears.
Monsignor Michael Braun will be in studio at 9:15 a.m. to chat with Californian CEO Richard Beene. They will talk about Pope Francis, who assumed leadership of the Catholic Church last week.
