"Oh, I'd love to be an Oscar Mayer wiener. That is what I'd truly like to be. 'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer wiener, everyone would be in love with me."

The iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile turned some heads in northwest Bakersfield Friday, and people approached the Wienermobile with a smile on their face and had their picture taken.

Fun facts about the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile:

* It's fuel-efficient and its mileage is similar to that of a large SUV.

* It's made out of fiberglass, which makes it lightweight.

* It seats six people and has comfy red and yellow seats.

* There is a TV inside where Oscar Mayer commercials can be played.

* A cloudy blue sky is painted on the ceiling.

* The main door is located on the left side of the Wienermobile and opens upward.

"She was singing the song when we got off of the car," Jesse Gracia, 30, said as he took a photo of his wife, Amanda Gracia, 29, next to the Wienermobile she grew up watching on TV commercials.

Amanda said her grandmother used to sing the song to her when she was a child and frankly, as soon as she heard the hot dog on wheels would be in town, she had to check it out.

She not only took several photos, but also cleared her throat and was brave enough to sing the Oscar jingle in order to take home a legendary Oscar Mayer whistle.

So how did this enormous 27-foot-long, 11-foot-high, 8-foot-wide hot dog roll into Bakersfield?

The "hotdoggers" behind the wheel are 22-year-old Amanda Vazquez -- also known as Spicy Mustard Mandy and 24-year-old Kate Bennett -- also known as Pigs in a BlanKate.

The duo has been driving around the southwest part of the country since June 2013 and their journey will end this June.

"It's been fun to travel the country and visit so many different places and meet so many people," Bennett said.

The "hotdogger" position of driving the Wienermobile is only available to college seniors who are about to graduate. Students are sought at campuses across the country and 12 lucky "hotdoggers" were selected this year.

Bennett and Vazquez gave out stickers, postcards and a coloring page to those whose curiosity led them to the Wienermobile at Vons.

The Wienermobile makes stops at local grocery stores, parades and events, Bennett said. It will make its final appearance from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Vons, 9000 Ming Ave.

But if you can't make it, and you see the Wienermobile on the freeway, don't be afraid to honk and wave hello, because it's not every day you get to see a hot dog on wheels.
