Nikita is a fluffy, soft, black and white Siberian Husky. She's energetic, a little chubby and she's up for adoption.

Friday on "First Look with Scott Cox," Bakersfield SPCA director Julie Johnson, who also runs the city's shelter on Mount Vernon Avenue, brought Nikita for the debut of "First Look's" Pet of the Week segment, which will happen every Friday.

"She obviously hasn't been lacking the food dish," Johnson said, laughing.

Nikita weighs about 13 pounds and will be two months old on Jan. 22.

People can start an application for adoption today but Nikita won't be available until Jan. 22.

Nikita is up for adoption for $80. That includes all shots, spay/neuter, a deworming treatment and a microchip.

You can visit Nikita and other pets at the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center at 201 Mt. Vernon Ave or call 832-7387.
