Photography, puppets and paintings -- they're among the new exhibitions at the Bakersfield Museum of Art.
Museum curator Vikki Cruz said the art can be seen starting Thursday, with an opening reception at 6 p.m.
"It's a great night," Cruz said Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox."
Among the exhibits:
* "Horace Bristol: The Dust Bowl," which includes 32 images from that time.
Simulcast host Scott Cox said he'd love to talk with the photographer about the composition of his photos, but Cruz noted he has died.
Cox said you can't appreciate your town without knowing its history and encouraged people to see the exhibit.
* "The World on a String: Puppets from the Alan Cook Collection," a display of more than 100 puppets.
"The puppets are from all over the world," Cruz said.
* "A story of Immigration: Illustrations by Belle Yang," includes more than 30 of her illustrations, many relating to her heritage and experience immigrating from China.
* "Paintings by Keith Wicks."
The museum is at 1930 R St. Admission is $10, or free for members.
