The epic fantasy adventure film "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," did not disappoint its fans and made a whopping $73.6 million on opening weekend.
Monday on "First Look with Scott Cox," Michael Hopper and Herc of NERD WORLD Report talked about the much-anticipated film.
Herc enjoyed the movie but said it reminded him of the previous movie. For that reason, he gave the movie a B.
"I will say it has a ton of action and it's great to see the return of Gandalf," Herc said.
For those who don't follow the movie, this new film is the second installment of a three-part film series based on J.R.R Tolkien's 1937 novel "The Hobbit."
The storyline continues with the hobbit Bilbo Baggins traveling with the wizard Gandalf and a company of 13 dwarves led by Thorin into the Kingdom of Erebor, taking them through Mirkwood, Esgaroth and Dale to combat with the dragon Smaug, according to the movie trailer.
"I like the action, it was a solid film and I was a fan of the dragon scene," Hopper said. He gave the movie a solid A rating.
So what other movies should you check out and watch this week?
Herc recommended "Saving Mr. Banks," "The Hobbit" and "American Hustle."
