Kern County Library has a special volunteer opportunity for children and teens. The library is looking for creative kids between the ages of 8-18 to help decorate and design Magic Reading Carpets in the style of favorite children's books. Use paint, markers and stencils to decorate carpet squares from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. June 25 in the Beale Memorial Library auditorium, 701 Truxtun Ave. Kids between the ages of 8-14 must be accompanied by a parent.
