    Jan Gary, along with others, wants to beautify Oildale. And what better way than displaying its founder, Andrew Ferguson? "We should honor this man," Gary said. She said he got Oildale started, and as far ss she knows, his is the first statue in Oildale.

Andrew Ferguson, credited as the founder of Oildale, is forever part of the area — and he now has his own statue to prove it.

The statue by artist Chris Folsom was dedicated Friday morning at 200 China Grade Loop. Ferguson's great-granddaughters were there, as well as the sculptor.
