Don't miss the chance to catch the last play of season at Bakersfield Community Theatre featuring the riveting "Steel Magnolias."
Wednesday on "First Look with Scott Cox," publicity and marketing director Janice French talked about renovation plans in store for the theater.
The theater has been at the 2400 S. Chester Ave. location since the 1960s, French said. It has seating for 180 but there are plans to expand.
"We need a place where we can custom build," French said.
For now, you can catch the comedy-drama play about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana in "Steel Magnolias."
Simulcast host Scott Cox was surprised to hear the actors and those involved in the theater don't get paid.
"It's an act of love and theater," French said.
Showings for "Steel Magnolias" are April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19. For more information, call 831-8114.
