The red carpet was rolled out in Bakersfield Saturday evening during the opening weekend of "Cesar Chavez: An American Hero."

The United Farm Workers and the UFW Foundation held a fundraiser with a reception at the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center followed by a screening of the movie at Maya Cinemas.

The movie opened in 100 cities this weekend.
