Donny is a 2-year-old Shih Tzu whose calmness and gentleness will make you feel at peace.

When the spotted black and white dog arrived at the city shelter, Julie Johnson, who runs the shelter on Mount Vernon Avenue and is also Bakersfield SPCA director, said he looked like a dirty mop.

"We had to shave him completely," Johnson said Friday on "First Look with Scott Cox." Donny was the featured Pet of the Week on the show.

Donny is neutered, vaccianted and is ready to be adopted. You can adopt him for $40, Johnson said.

You can visit Donny and other pets at the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center at 201 Mt. Vernon Ave. or call 832-7387.
