When the temperature heats up in Bakersfield, some will escape to the mountains of Tehachapi for wine, beer and food at Saturday's Savor the Flavor.
It will be "a great, exclusive event," Kim Nixon said Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox."
Nixon is the executive director of the Tehachapi Family Life Pregnancy Center, a nonprofit that organized the event to benefit the center and other groups in the city, including but not limited to youth football and wrestling.
"We wanted the event to focus on Tehachapi," Nixon said, who said there will be something for everyone.
The something for everyone includes 15 wineries from places including Tehachapi, Ventura and the Central Coast, a home-brew competition and food.
There are 600 general admission tickets; 50 VIP tickets are sold out.
VIP gates open at 5:30 p.m.; regular admission is at 6 p.m. The event is at E and Green streets downtown.
General admission is $60, or $30 for designated drivers. Buy tickets at savortheflavortehachapi.com.
