An estimated 900 workers at the Air Force Material Command at Edwards Air Force Base who were furloughed as part of the government shutdown will return to work this week.

According to John Haire, a spokesman for the base, the furloughed workers are to return to their normal shift and duty locations on Monday and Tuesday.

The Pentagon had announced Saturday that nearly all of its 350,000 furloughed civilian employees would return to work this week in order to support military readiness.

Haire, along with others at Edwards, was furloughed Oct. 1, part of the idling of about 800,00 "non-essential" federal workers.
