1 dead, 1 hurt in Pershing Street shootings

On Sunday at 5:24 p.m., officers from the Bakersfield Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 1100-block of Pershing Street. On arrival, two adult males were found in the front yard of the home, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported by Hall ambulance to Kern Medical Center where one of the victims succumbed to his injuries. The second victim was taken into surgery with serious injuries.

Two persons were detained in the area and taken to the Bakersfield Police Department for further questioning. The identity of the victim is being withheld until family are notified.
