The teen girl police say participated in the robbery and killing of two people at a medical marijuana dispensary pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against her Thursday afternoon.

Kern County Superior Court Judge Colette M. Humphrey ordered 16-year-old Miracle Jackson held without bail and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Oct. 8, the same day as co-defendant Aaron Burris' next hearing. Prosecutor Cynthia Zimmer said the district attorney's office wants the cases combined.

Jackson and Burris are both charged with murder, robbery and participating in a criminal street gang.

Police say Burris, 32, and Jackson were captured on surveillance footage July 17 inside the First Reliable collective at 217 Chester Ave. Reports filed in court say a man identified as Burris is shown shooting 55-year-old Tony Sherman and ordering security guard Devin Daniels to hand over money and marijuana from the business.

The reports say the footage cuts off just as Burris raised a gun to Daniels' head. The robbery netted the suspects $20 in cash and 80.5 grams of marijuana.

The footage also showed a female identified as Jackson wiping down a front counter in the shop which both she and Burris had touched, the reports say. Police reports indicate Jackson didn't fire any shots, but the law allows a murder charge against someone who participates in a crime that ends in death, even if that person had no intention of killing.

Jackson had run away from a group home in Bakersfield a few days before the killing.
