Temperatures to plunge in latter half of week

Unseasonably warm conditions will be over for the time being as temperatures are expected to drop 15 to 20 degrees Thursday compared to Wednesday due to a passing cold front.
Bakersfield's high for Thursday is expected to be 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. That's compared with a high of 83 degrees Wednesday.
And on Friday, the temperature is expected to continue to plunge another 10 to 15 degrees. The weather services predicts Friday's high at 56 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain.
The weather service also put in place a wind advisory from 10 a.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday from Yosemite to the Kern and Tulare county lines. It also warns of blowing dust from Thursday afternoon to Thursday evening on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley.
The Tehachapi mountains may also see a dusting of snow, according to the weather service. Chances of that are 40 percent Friday night.
The cold conditions are expected to last through the weekend, with temperatures forecast to dip as low as 35 degrees Saturday night.
