The third annual Growing Opportunities Career Fair at Cal State Bakersfield will offer students and the community the opportunity to learn about USDA and agriculture industry internships and how to land a job after graduation.
Wednesday on "First Look with Scott Cox," Aaron Hegbe with CSUB's agriculture department and Angel Cottrell, public relations and communication affairs specialist at the School of Business & Public Administration, talked about what to expect at the career fair.
"Agriculture is beyond farming," Hegbe said. "If you're a student in accounting, ag companies will look for you."
About 20 agriculture industry companies and private/public sector recruiters will attend.
Students taking agriculture courses at CSUB are taught by professionals in the agriculture industry, Hegbe said.
"A couple years ago, one instructor hired five of his students as interns for his company," he said.
The career fair is from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Multipurpose Room at CSUB. The fair is open to the public.
