Singing is good for your heart, soul and mind.

Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox," members of the Bakersfield Master Chorale filled the studio with holiday cheer.

"It's the beauty of word and voice brought together," director Robert Provencio said.

Twelve members and a pianist performed four songs, from "Joy to the World" to "O Little Town of Bethlehem."

The chorale is a society of adult voices who perform in various community concerts. And on Saturday, "A Master Chorale Christmas" concert will feature 105 members all singing at Olive Drive Church, 5500 Olive Drive.

"It's an amazing, wonderful feeling to have musicians join in heart, minds and souls to create a spiritual stream of music," Provencio said.

Simulcast host Scott Cox said it was an honor to be in the same room with the singers because they are extremely talented.

Although Cox said he would never qualify to sing with the group, the chorale will hold auditions Dec. 10 for anyone that would like to experience the thrill of singing with a chorale group.

A rehearsal will be held at the First Assembly of God Church, 4901 California Ave. in the Blue Chapal at 7 p.m. Dec. 10. There will be a one-on-one audition with Provencio following rehearsals.

Tickets for the Saturday's concert at Olive Drive Church will be sold at the door; the event starts at 7 p.m.
