Bakersfield, prepare to indulge in creamy, rich, and most importantly, cheesy macaroni and cheese.
Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox," Jessica Beattie from American General Media Inc., and Lourdes Nilon, manager of the Children's Miracle Network at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, talked about the Macaroni & Cheese Festival coming to CSUB on April 12.
Three years ago, American General Medica Inc. created the festival in Paso Robles. The festival travels around the country, giving mac & cheese fans the opportunity to taste their hometown restaurant's take on the American comfort food.
"Mac and cheese brings back so many childhood memories," Beattie said.
This year, with the purchase of a $45 entrance ticket, the money will benefit the Children's Miracle Network at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital.
"Every dollar stays local," Nilon said.
So what kind of macaroni and cheese can you expect at the festival?
For one, it's not your ordinary out-of-the-box macaroni and cheese.
"This tastes smokey and awesome and the crust is unbelieveable," simulcast host Scott Cox said after having two bites of the Hot & Smokin BBQ Mac & Cheese.
Hot & Smokin BBQ Catering will be one of more than 20 restaurants throwing down macaroni and cheese samples. A People's Choice Award will be given to the top 3 favorite macaroni and cheese creations.
"Do not eat beforehand and come hungry," Beattie said.
