Two men were found shot and killed at a home on Kamloops Drive in the Laurelglen area of southwest Bakersfield, police reported Thursday night.
The men were identified early Friday morning as Brandon Nicolas Sims, 23, and Zachary Daniel Sims, 26, according to a Kern County coroner's office news release.
Also, two men seen leaving the home shortly after shots were fired were at large as of 11 p.m., police said, and a search was underway.
Bakersfield Police said they were called to the home in the 7800 block of Kamloops, east of Gosford Road., about 6:40 p.m., following reports of gunshots fired.
Officers found one man fatally injured in the front yard with one gunshot wound. A second man was found in a hallway inside the house. He appeared to have been shot multiple times, also fatally.
Police said they had determined that neither victim was a resident of the home.
Witneses reported that a man who police believe is associated with the house ran from the house, to the west. He wasn't found.
Police would not elaborate on what the man's association with the house might have been.
Witnesses also said that after the shots were fired, a second man fled the house in a vehicle which later was found abandoned on a streeet to the east, Klamath Way, which is closer to Ashe Road.
This man was reported to have left the vehicle and fled.
Officers had no comment on whether any weapons were found at the scene of the killings.
Late Thursday night, the county coroner arrived to remove the bodies.
