Clark, a 7-month-old Vizsla dog, was very affectionate and playful Friday on "First Look with Scott Cox," and at one point, simply lounged across the studio table.

"He's so sweet and you can't get a better personality," said Julie Johnson, who runs the shelter on Mount Vernon Avenue and is also Bakersfield SPCA director.

Vizsla dogs are loyal companions, are easily trained and are great watch dogs.

Clark has a spot of white/gray hair on his chest and is expected to grow a bit more, Johnson said.

The shelter and the SPCA are having a half-price offer through May, so you can adopt Clark for only $40. He has been microchipped, spayed/neutered and is ready to go.

Johnson also reminded the community to check out the low-cost vaccination, licensing and microchiping clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Heritage Park.
