Lucenda is potty trained, leash trained and crate trained. The 8-month-old black and white miniature border collie is up for adoption.

"She's wicked smart, wicked fast, what more could you want?" Julie Johnson, who runs the shelter on Mount Vernon Avenue and is also Bakersfield SPCA director, said Friday on "First Look with Scott Cox."

If you live an active lifestyle, Lucenda is the perfect match, simulcast host Scott Cox said.

Border collies do great in agility training and wouldn't mind jogging with you or taking a dip in your pool, Johnson and Cox agreed.

"She is ready to go today," Johnson said.

You can visit Lucenda and other pets at the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center at 201 S. Mt. Vernon Ave. or call 832-7387.

Johnson also reminded the community to check out the low-cost vaccination, licensing and microchiping clinic from 9 a.m. to noon May 10 at Heritage Park.
