The Park at River Walk will be covered by a sea of red, white and blue as 1,000 American flags are flown in tribute to all who have sacrificed -- and continue to sacrifice -- during Memorial Day Weekend.
"It's an incredible and emotional experience to walk among those flags," Becky Smith with Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club said Thursday on "First Look with Scott Cox." Rotary is one of several organizations working on the event.
The display of flags will begin Saturday, May 24 and on Monday, May 26, there will be a patriotic fair with booths, bands and fun family activities. Noon to 2 p.m. there will be guest speakers, Smith said.
You can also sponsor a flag for $50, she added.
