Shira Lazar wants to empower women with knowledge about new technology at Thursday's 25th Bakersfield Women's Business Conference.
"It's a whole new world out there," Lazar, a guest speaker at the conference, said Wednesday on "First Look with Scott Cox" via phone.
Lazar is the host and executive producer of "What's Trending," the Emmy nominated live interactive daily show and 24/7 news hub.
Simulcast host Scott Cox said he gets his news from newspapers and TV news broadcasts, something completely different from the way his kids, in thier 20s, get their news.
"They aren't watching TV anymore; they are getting everything from their phone," Cox said.
Lazar agreed with Cox and said more than 50 percent of her show's audience views it on a YouTube phone app.
Although Lazar said she doesn't see TV networks going away, she said they do need to become more aware of how they deliver their news.
"Anyone can create anything at this point, as long as it's meaningful, people will connect," Lazar said. "You can create what you want and make your vision come true."
The conference kicks off at 7 a.m. Thursday at the Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center. Tickets will be sold at the door.
