Two openings on Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee
By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN
The City of Bakersfield is looking for two people to serve on the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee, one of them as an alternate member, for four-year terms.
The committee recommends policies and programs to the City Council to promote beautification and anti-litter efforts in Bakersfield.
The two new members would represent Ward 2 on the committee, and new City Councilman Terry Maxwell of Ward 2 will nominate them. The nominees will be confirmed by a majority vote on the council.
Terms for Stephen Montgomery, the Ward 2 regular committee member, and Amber Beeson, the Ward 2 alternate member, ended in November, creating the openings. Alternate members only have voting rights if their respective committee member is absent from a committee vote.
To apply, pick up an application from the City Clerk's Office at 1600 Truxtun Ave. or at the city's website: www.bakersfieldcity.us. The deadline to return applications to the city clerk is 5 p.m. Dec. 28.
Residents interested in serving on the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee are encouraged to contact each council member about their interest and qualifications.
