California Living Museum, or CALM, hosts the HolidayLights program each year during the holiday season. Many volunteer opportunities exist: visitor greeters, train conductors, tour guides and many other positions. Call Lana at 872-2256 for more details and to volunteer.
Bakersfield Homeless Center is looking for volunteers to assist as line monitors during its toy giveaway. If you are a people person, able to maintain a light, fun atmosphere for those standing in line, call 322-9199. Also, food servers are needed for Sunday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25. You can also adopt a family this holiday season to provide a much brighter holiday for them by calling Daniel at 322-9199 ext. 131.
BARC is hosting its annual Magical Forest event at its South Union Avenue facility. Volunteers can assist with this fun event by getting involved in Tinker's Village, assisting visitors with shopping, gate attendants, miniature golf, Santa's photo booth, snack bar and much much more. Call Michelle Garland at 834-2272; there are open evenings through Dec. 23. If you enjoy arts and crafts, it is looking for your help in the arts and crafts booth for children.
Boys and Girls Club of Bakersfield is looking for volunteers to assist with daily activities while the kids are on Christmas break. Assist with daily activities, preparing snacks, arts and crafts, etc. You can be a positive role model for the many kids who rely on the Boys and Girls Club for their safe haven. Christmas for Seniors needs your help TODAY. Now through Dec. 16, you can assist with wrapping, packaging and preparing gifts for delivery to local seniors for the holidays. Sandy Morris is heading up the special unit of Santa's helpers again this year and would love to have your help.
