Animal Control up to the plate during morning Supervisors meeting

By The Bakersfield Californian

Kern County supervisors are slated for an update on progress toward changes in the Animal Control Department, which is running under the guidance of an interim manager while a hunt for a permanent director is conducted.

Of particular interest is the PEET program -- a canvassing and enforcement program which sends Animal Control officers to the streets to contact dog owners and get them to license their animals as they are required to by county ordinances. An update on the program is expected.

There could also be discussion of Animal Control's seizure of more than 215 and arrest of Duain Preitz, 61, of Rosamond on Friday for animal abuse.
