Supervisors could lock in contract with new KMC chief today

By The Bakersfield Californian

Kern County supervisors come back from Thanksgiving vacation today to talk about the contract with the company that will run troubled Kern Medical Center for them.

The contract with former Mercy Hospitals executive Russell Judd, and the company he created to take the chief executive officer's job at KMC, is on the afternoon session.

In the morning session supervisors are expected to approve a recommended spending plan for $8.9 million in one-time state prison realignment funds -- spending that is aimed almost completely at strengthening post release supervision, job training, and substance abuse treatment for inmates.
