Community Recycling faces closure before Board of Supervisors
By The Bakersfield Californian
Community Recycling will be delayed a bit during this afternoon's meeting so that some of the other items on the agenda can be cleared before the kick-off of what promises to be an emotional battle over the fate of the Arvin-area composting facility.
There will be an interesting discussion of whether solar power projects should be developed on "prime" agricultural property.
Then Community Recycling's spotty history of complying with state and county land-use and safety regulations will get an airing and supervisors will be confronted with more recent violations that, in the light of the deaths of two workers from exposure to toxic gas trapped in a storm-drain system, raise the question of whether Community Recycling is capable of following the law.
Also, we will be listening for any news from the county's review of Library Director Diane Duquette's performance.
