Education roundup: Foundation offering ag-related scholarships

By The Bakersfield Californian

High school and college students planning to major in agricultural fields in cotton-growing areas of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas have until March 31 to submit applications for Calcot-Seitz Foundation scholarship awards.

Now in its 34th year, the educational foundation selects recipients based on scholastic aptitude and performance, leadership potential, participation in extracurricular activities and financial need.

Individual scholarship amounts range from $3,000 to $1,000 per student, paid over a four-year period. Each year the Foundation awards roughly $40,000 in scholarships.

Applicants must plan to study in an agricultural field (other than veterinary medicine) at a four-year university, and must be from a cotton-producing region of one of the four states served by Calcot.

Applications and information can be found at www.calcot.com/calcotseitz, or call 395-6874.
