Police investigate threat against principal

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

Kern High School District police are investigating a threat against Mira Monte High School Principal Jaime Quiñonez spray painted on a school building some time Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

The tagger threatened to kill Quiñonez, then listed the principal's home address and the names of his wife and children.

The graffiti at the southeast Bakersfield high school has since been painted over.

"It is not unusual for key administrators like principals and deans who oversee discipline to have their lives threatened in various forms, including graffiti, but it's unusual when someone threatens the life of an administrator or educator's child," said district spokesman John Teves. "We are taking it seriously and making efforts to be as supportive as possible."

The district has also taken safety precautions, but Teves declined to describe them lest he tip off the perpetrator.
