Middle, high schoolers invited to college planning event at CSUB

The CSU Chancellor's Office, California State Bakersfield, and Paramount Farming Company, in partnership with the Southern San Joaquin Valley Cal-SOAP Consortium, will present the educational forum, "College: Making It Happen!"
Sixth through 11th graders, parents, and community leaders are invited to participate in the free event, which will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the CSUB's Icardo Center. Registration is from 8am- 9am, with the program running from 9am-2:00pm.
"College: Making It Happen!" is a program designed to communicate to families, community leaders, and school educators the importance of early academic and financial planning. The program aspires to educate middle/high school students and their parents about the choices available after high school graduation.
Student sessions to be offered will include: ABCs of A-G Courses & High School Graduation Requirements, Financial Aid & Scholarship Opportunities, Systems of Higher Education, Getting Prepared for College Early, Career Trends, Life Skills, a College Tour, and a Resource Fair.
Parent sessions will be offered in both English and Spanish with the following options: ABCs of A-G Courses & High School Graduation Requirements, Financial Aid and Scholarship Opportunities, Systems of Higher Education, and Parent-to-Parent Panel.
